From Taoist Lao Tzi’s Yellow Court Scripture it says: “Reishi is considered an herb of auspiciousness.  Found in Sanxiu Mountain and celestial beings called it Sanxiu plant. Consume it regularly would prevent aging and improve intelligence and brain function.”

In Chapter 11 (Pattern of the Family) of the Book of Rites (Liji), it says “consuming Ganoderma nourishes the body. Applying it externally can also help repair and restore damaged skin.
